Dance floors and dance coverings for safe movement in training, rehearsal spaces, and on stage
FLOORWINGS dance floors and dance coverings are designed for a wide range of dance applications – from dance schools, ballet studios, and ballet rehearsal rooms to general dance rehearsal spaces, stages, and mobile uses. They are suitable both for permanently installed dance spaces and for flexible applications where dance surfaces are set up temporarily and removed again.
On this page you will find FLOORWINGS dance floors and dance coverings that are designed for permanent installation and bonding in fixed dance rooms as well as – depending on the version – for semi-mobile or portable use. Many dance floors are suitable for long-term use in dance schools, ballet studios, and ballet rehearsal rooms, while also allowing quick installation and dismantling on stages or at events. An overview in the product presentation shows which dance styles and applications each dance floor or dance covering is intended for. Detailed information on the recommended installation method can be found on the respective product pages.

Properties of dance floors for permanent installation
What feels right on the dance floor is not created at the drawing board. FLOORWINGS dance floors have been developed together with dancers for decades. Experience from daily training, rehearsals, and stage work flows directly into the design of cushioning, surface, and construction.
Different dance styles require different properties. Classical ballet places different demands than contemporary dance, musical theatre, or urban styles. FLOORWINGS takes this diversity into account and offers dance floors that adapt to the body and to movement – not the other way around.
Installation of FLOORWINGS dance carpets and dance floors
The installation of dance floors requires experience and skilled craftsmanship. FLOORWINGS dance carpets and dance floors can be installed by specialized flooring professionals who are familiar both with installation on sprung floors and with direct bonding to screed or wooden subfloors.
Before installation, the subfloor must be professionally assessed. Uneven areas must be leveled or, if necessary, the subfloor must be newly prepared. Since dance floors are generally single-colored and without patterns, any irregularities in the subfloor will be immediately visible on the surface. Careful preparation is therefore crucial for the final appearance in a dance school, ballet studio, or dance rehearsal room.
The adhesive is applied using a very fine notched trowel, as coarser trowel marks may remain visible on the surface. The dance floor is then laid evenly and without tension into the adhesive bed and carefully rolled. Despite the greatest care, installation is always manual work. Especially in grazing light, minor irregularities may be visible. The experience of the flooring installer therefore has a significant impact on the final result.
Welding of dance floors
Permanent dance spaces such as dance schools, ballet studios, and dance rehearsal rooms are cleaned regularly, often using wet cleaning methods with suitable cleaning agents such as Antistat or Bison from the FLOORWINGS range.
To prevent moisture or water from penetrating beneath the dance floor, the butt joints between the rolls must be sealed. This process is known as welding and is carried out after the dance floor has been firmly bonded. The joints are sealed to be watertight. Unlike the welding of metals, this does not create a force-locked connection between the rolls, but a permanently sealed joint.
Permanent, semi-mobile, and portable installation of dance carpets
On stage, every moment counts. New spaces, changing conditions, and high physical demands are part of everyday life. FLOORWINGS dance floors are used wherever dancers need a familiar feeling even under these conditions.
Whether permanently installed or mobile on tour, FLOORWINGS dance floors provide grip, stability, and safety. They help dancers adapt quickly to new spaces while maintaining the same confidence as in their own studio.
Dance floor or dance carpet?
The Manero Ultra Lite is specially developed for mobile applications. It is characterized by low weight and easy handling. No sprung floor can be installed, dismantled, and stored more quickly. At the same time, it provides effective shock absorption for dance.
Accessories for dance floors
For over 30 years, TUCHLER has accompanied dancers with dance carpets and sprung floors in daily training, rehearsals, and on stage. From this long-standing collaboration with the dance world, FLOORWINGS was created – TUCHLER’s brand for dance professionals and dance enthusiasts.
FLOORWINGS is used in a wide variety of working environments – including ballet rehearsal rooms of major opera houses such as the Vienna State Opera, the Stuttgart State Theatres, the Tanzraum Wedding in Berlin, as well as numerous ballet studios and dance schools throughout Europe. These examples represent a long list of projects in the field of dance.
